source games messing with my mic

Well I had this problem with CS:S and HL2:DM, when I start a source game it changes my microphones status from Microphone to Digital Microphone, so that everytime I join a game or the server switches maps I have to hit the windows button and go into control panel to change it back =/. Wondering if there is any way to keep it from doing this, since my mic wont work when it is set to digital.



P.S. I am using a logitech, don't know if that matters or not.

Hmm. I'm not sure. I used to have that happen to me sometimes, but then it just stopped. Maybe doublecheck your default settings before you start up a game? I have to do that every now and then.

As far as my understanding, regular headphones are analog, and headphones that utilize the USB port are digital (digital connection). Maybe you have a loose USB cord causing an issue?

Cool thanks, I will try that out. My headphones are analog but I use a USB mouse and its USB thing got bent, maybe thats whats messing it up.

NEW DEVELOPMENT: Turns out, my mic wont work on DBD office server, I havnt really played the others since I found this out so I dunno if they dont work on there either. Anyways it seems to work on everything else, games, VOIP clients, other INS servers. Just wondering if there is some mod or something on there not letting my mic work or if I gotta add exceptions or mess with advanced settings. Pretty frustrating since the one I need it to work most on, it wont. Works for GSC though and I know that more people wanna move towards using GSC alot so I dunno if this is a big problem or a huge problem =/

try deleting your user cfg blob file can hold on to bad settings sumtimes

I will try it out but I was wondering is blob was the name of the file, I dont see any with blob in the cfg folder. Im a noob
