iexplorer runs 2x according to task manager
Lately, whenever I use iexplorer 8, under the task manager shows 2 instances of iexplorer. If I kill one, they both allways close. I use xp home on a old sony viao with a agp ati 9550. I dont usually run any anti virus, firewall or anti mal spam ware protection. I tried AVG and came up clean. The only porn site I check out latly is youporn. I think its clean as well.
Any ideas? thanks.
Just noticed, again under task manager, it spells iexplore.exe. This that the right splelling?

yes, right spelling.
You're not the brightest crayon in the box to not be using protection. Think of it this way, its like everytime your on the web, you're at least sticking the tip in unprotected, into random people around the world. Wouldn't you feel a little more comfortable with a rubber (antivirus) on? AVG is the minimum you should have installed. You also need an adaware detector. I use Firefox, but I will check when I get home, to see if it does the same thing with me as it is with you.

Yes, iexplore is IE. I don't run IE, I have v7 anyways. I use Firefox with the ad-block and no-script extensions (plugins).
AVG sucks. Get Avira. It's free and has been rated the best AV over all others (I've done my homework, this is true), even the ones you pay for.

If you are going to use this, make sure you uninstall AVG first. Running 2 AV's at the same time can cause massive headaches. I also suggest scanning with Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware -
http://www.malwarebytes.org/mbam.php
I don't ever have my AV running in the background realtime. It only runs when I want to scan. But, I also use a total of 3 firewalls and the plugins for Firefox stop a lot of malicious things from happening should I run into them.
I also scan with Spyware Doctor from time to time, but my "trial" version is a pain in the ass to install. The above 2 I linked do an excellent job.

well ive made the switch from firefox to chrome its faster and I dunno why I just like it.
in terms of security nothing proves chromes more secure than this:
http://arstechnica.com/security/news/2009/03/chrome-is-the-only-browser-left-standing-in-pwn2own-contest.ars
"A recent contest at CanSecWest, an event that brings together some of the most skilled experts in the security community, has demonstrated that the three most popular browser are susceptible to security bugs despite the vigilance and engineering prowess of their creators. Firefox, Safari, and Internet Explorer were all exploited during the Pwn2Own competition that took place at the conference. Google's Chrome browser, however, was the only one left standing—a victory that security researchers attribute to its innovative sandbox feature."
As for internet explorer 8, it did very bad on the acid 3 test, not to mention web developers hate ieexplorer especially the older versions.

Re: iexplorer runs 2x according to task manager
Are there nifty plugins and extensions available for Chrome like there are for Firefox?
See though, I'd be afraid that Chrome is reporting back to google what sites your visiting and storing it in their vast database that they let the Govt have access to. Hey, since nobody has seen Hardcell, someone has to be the conspiracy theorist around here.

Re: iexplorer runs 2x according to task manager
Ill try Avira and some of the other sugestions.
The chome thing sounds interesting too. Sick of iexplore and firefox seems to trip over itself if I use any add on stuff. Course my TSR-80 is a little slow.
